Why it’s worth seeing a professional beauty therapist

February can be a tough slog of a month – the festivities are over, the weather is miserable, and there’s that pesky credit-card bill that just came in the post. Your body is calling out for a bit of self-care, but you may be reluctant to spend any money at all during February. I have some helpful insights as to why going to a beauty professional is worth the extra spend, as well as some money-saving tips if you’re in a squeeze.

How professionals do it better

As a beauty therapist, it’s not surprising that I’m going to encourage you to go to a professional for your pampering needs. But this isn’t a big push for you to book my treatments – there are plenty of solid reasons why paying for a professional is an investment worth making:

  1. It feels fabulous: Ever had that glorious feeling after leaving a hair salon? The gorgeous scalp massage as someone else washes your hair and carefully styles it to perfection. You feel like a new person! Beauty therapy has the same magical effect – you can completely switch off and let us do the work. Say goodbye to struggling to paint your nails with your less dominant hand. With a beauty therapist doing the painting for you – not a problem!
  2. It’s more effective – Self-care is supposed to be relaxing, but how can you relax if you’re doing all the hard work yourself? By booking in, you guarantee yourself an hour or two of uninterrupted relaxation. The treatments are also more effective in a literal sense – if you have a Full-Body Tan  with us, you’ll definitely have a better-looking, longer-lasting glow than if you fake-tanned yourself at home. Needless to say, you also won’t have the struggle of trying to tan those hard-to-reach areas, nor of failing to get the stains out of your bath towels!
  3. It’s safe – for me, this is the number-one reason to bear in mind. Yes, with simple grooming tasks such as manicures and skin treatments, you may feel capable and in control when it comes to doing it yourself. But when it comes to trickier tasks, such as waxing and epilation, going to a professional is definitely worth your time. You can have complete peace of mind in knowing that our highly trained beauty therapists know exactly what they’re doing, as well as offering treatments that you simply can’t replicate at home, such as our Laser Hair Removal and Permanent Hair Removal tailor-made programmes. We offer high-end, state-of-the-art treatments, and we’re fully qualified to provide them and know the equipment we’re using inside out and backwards. The lay-person just doesn’t have this level of expertise. For peace of mind, turn to a professional.

At home

If you’re truly in a pinch, I have a couple of tricks up my sleeve that will help you get the best results possible on a DIY beauty level. No, it’s not the same as a salon treatment – but they’re good ‘second-best’ options.

  •  A staple product: a fantastic at-home tanning product that I recommend is the he-shi Day-to-Day Gradual Tan that we sell in-store.the salon. It provides amazing natural results, ideal for applying yourself as the payoff colour is subtle and glowing and can be built up. This prevents any unfortunate dramatic self-tanning incident!
  • A great skincare routine: If you’re feeling a bit lacklustre, but don’t want to splash out on a facial, my advice is to create a skincare routine. If you get into the habit of caring for your skin and carving out some time in the day to look after you, you’ll start to see great results in the way you look and feel. A key part of skincare is moisturisation – one of my favourite products for this is the RE9 Advanced Prepwork Overnight Face Jelly by Arbonne . If you don’t fancy booking a facial, this product can be used alone or as a night-time mask together with Arbonne’s Hydrating Dew Cream …A facial while you sleep!

February can be a draining month, but combine dedication to your self-care routine with a booking to see us, and you’ll be stepping into spring with a spring in your step!
